But, of course, they probably knew that all along, but wanted to break Apple encryption while they had a fresh “crisis” on their hands. Remember, “never let a crisis go to waste”. The federal gov’t has been steaming about Apple’s encryption for awhile now, and wanted an excuse to eradicate it. They thought the “dead terrorist’s encrypted phone” was the perfect crisis, but they’ve by now probably realized that they lost the PR campaign.
