Giraldi has written several intriguing articles focusing on the possible intelligence aspect of the Epstein affair, most recently his piece at Unz.com contemplating the possibility that Epstein could have ties to the spy network of a foreign state. Giraldi writes:
“That Epstein was perceived as being intelligence-linked was made clear in Acosta’s comments when being cleared by the Trump transition team. He was asked “Is the Epstein case going to cause a problem [for confirmation hearings]?” … “Acosta had explained, breezily, apparently, that back in the day he’d had just one meeting on the Epstein case. He’d cut the non-prosecution deal with one of Epstein’s attorneys because he had ‘been told’ to back off, that Epstein was above his pay grade. ‘I was told Epstein belonged to intelligence and to leave it alone.’””
It’s intriguing to think of Epstein as a type of covert weapon to be used by intelligence to generate blackmail material against select individuals, providing leverage to use against them later to coerce their cooperation, with the threat of exposure always hanging above the target’s head.
