Here in one room are gathered the rarest of heroes who rose in an attempt to save the human race from itself during a period of self-inflicted crisis. I’ll just make one point: I have a feeling that history will not give these men and women their due. Civilization rarely valorizes or memorializes its true defenders and saviors. Quite the opposite: the true protectors of the human race are more often than not the ones most quickly burned at the stake, ostracized, vilified, cancelled, while the authors and architects of vast devastation, agents of chaos, crypto-tyrants and technocrats are canonized. Children are taught simple-minded stories about their lives, statues are built to honor these monsters, these implacable enemies of their own species.
