United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot to death on an NYC sidewalk just before 7am today. From the footage, which I will not be posting here, it is clear that this was a hit, and the gunman was a professional. Anyone who knows guns will immediately recognize the long thick silencer sticking out of the pistol, and they’ll know that the calm demeanor of the shooter indicates professional killer. The gun even jams several times and the shooter patiently re-chambers a round before shooting again. He first makes sure his job is complete and only then does he trot off, and is now at large.
It’s widely known that health insurance conglomerates destroy families as a fundamental part of their business model. I’m going to venture a guess and say that UnitedHealth probably scammed the wrong family, who then put out the hit. I’m sure there will be a lengthy investigation and we’ll find out that someone with terminal cancer racked up millions in medical bills, and the company refused to pay out. A quick Google search shows that US citizens owe $220 billion in medical debt. Multi-millionaires can’t understand the pain, panic, and despair that millions of Americans wake up to every day. This is in no way a justification of Thompson’s murder, but it does provide a powerful motive.
