It would’ve probably been wise to apply two coats to Trump’s “Golden Age”, so the finish would last longer than two months. Alas, the cracking and flaking has begun, the cheap cast iron is almost visible, and the rust will set in soon unless something is done. The first sign of trouble was Trump’s declaration that America would “own Gaza”, and permanently and forever remove the native Palestinian population, the real Semites, never allowing them to return. Some of the more retarded MAGA faithful, guffawed and brayed about the coming MAGA strip, developing the land while the bodies of entire families are still decaying just below the ground. Not a good start at all to the New American Age, and I can’t think of a more ominous harbinger of doom. Imagine the karmic energy that would manifest should our government literally build on top of a genocided people.
Other incidents seem to confirm that the Trump administration is Israeli-occupied territory. The Tuesday arrest of Tufts grad student Rumeysa Ozturk by ICE, supposedly for writing an anti-Israel/pro-BDS article ONE YEAR AGO, is a sign that something is amiss, and that a nation other than America is being served by Trump. Ozturk, a Turkish national in the US on a student visa, was essentially kidnapped on the street and whisked away to an ICE detention facility in Louisiana, where she’ll probably remain for weeks until she’s shipped to her home country. The footage of her arrest is terrifying: two plainclothes officers approach her and aggressively grab her, stuffing her into their van, apparently giving her no option to go peacefully. Her arrest comes on the heels of the ICE arrest of another foreign-born “permanent resident”, Mahmoud Khalil, who organized pro-Palestine protests at Columbia University, and who is currently accused of vague crimes by the Trump admin for which they have no evidence.
It couldn’t be plainer that the Trump admin is executing these arrests on behalf of Israel. And while Israel can’t do much about our First Amendment, they can arm-twist their allies in the Trump admin to terrorize their foreign-born critics. The question really boils down to whether students or workers here on a visa are entitled to Constitutional rights granted to full citizens. I’d believe they do. But it’s murky enough that ICE can snatch and transport these people before something can be done legally to stop them. What do the MAGA faithful really believe will be the end result of the normalization of speech crime arrests? American citizens will be the next target. Did we learn nothing during the Bush years?
This isn’t what I voted for. I was told ICE was going to deport hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, not harass and detain Israel’s critics.
Another chip in the gold-plated veneer of Trump’s second term is the recent airstrike against Yemen, which served no American interests; only Israel’s. The strike targeted another supposed Hamas “leader”. The only problem is that Hamas isn’t an enemy of the US. But they are Israel’s enemy, and therein lies the “why” of the airstrike. And let’s not even get into the Signal chat leaks, where national security advisor Mike Walz included a high-profile, Trump-hating journalist on the call. Walz clearly isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but a tool he certainly is. Why he was appointed by Trump is a puzzle
And then we come to RFK Jr., recently-appointed HHS director. While he at least makes a show of doing good work, a recent X post of his raised many eyebrows:
October 7th…holocaust? I think we need to sit RFK down in front of Congress and force him to identify the person who wrote this garbage for him. Certainly, it would be his AIPAC handler, but let’s find out for sure. I’d also like to know what foreign policy has to do with public health in the US. I’d also like to learn more about what Kennedy means when he speaks about “poison” on Ivy league campuses. You mean…free speech? Does no one actually care about free speech, even Trump’s cabinet? Someone has the drop on Kennedy, someone or some organization has leverage on him that is being used to force him to release ridiculous statements like this.
Trump is of course a better President than the alternative, but I’m not going down that road. I’m tired of the “good enough” excuses. I voted for the Golden Age, and that’s what I, and every other Trump voter, expect.
