I feel much better having not fiddled with the cellular processes within my own body, the outcome of millions of years of evolution. Can people outsmart the immune system, or a virus, both the products of that same process of evolution? This is the Hayekian “fatal conceit” applied to the biological world. I’ve already had COVID-19. My immune system has been in contact with it and has mounted the only defense I’ll ever need. My immune system isn’t currently paralyzing me, or handing me a case of herpes in return. I’ll take evolution over this strange form of creationism that I see running rampant.
