There are no depths that corporate thugs won’t plumb if it means marginalizing a viewpoint that threatens their power, if the latest deception is to be believed: it appears that NBC was caught digitally adding a fake pimple to Tulsi Gabbard’s face during the debate, which suddenly disappeared during the debate. Here is one of several sources that investigated “pimplegate”.
If the corporate media are actually altering the physical appearance of candidates in real time, then we must expand our view of what lengths the corporate-government interests are willing to go to protect their power.
I can see the reasoning behind it, though: Tulsi is almost too photogenic, too striking amid the hideous throng of Democratic candidates. NBC probably thought that her good looks alone would draw the attention of the viewers away from everyone else on stage, thereby giving more focused attention on her viewpoints. A tiny digital zit wasn’t affecting public perception of her at all, and NBC probably knew it, and so removed the fake blemish, praying no one would notice. Well, it was noticed, and it merely confirms what we’ve always known: that the corporate media are stenographers to power. They will do anything, say anything, and smear anyone that their benefactors asked them to.
In Tulsi, the Warfare State’s perfect storm has arrived: the voice of the anti-war, the voice of the voiceless is encapsulated in an intelligent, intransigent, young, attractive combat veteran who means to end the American empire. You can’t help but pay attention to her when she speaks, and you can’t help but to adopt her mission as your own.
