The only solution to this absurdly tragic epidemic is to end the drug war.  Which means legalizing non-opioid based painkillers, like marijuana and kratom.  Fast-track cannabis-based painkillers and prescribe them instead of opioids.  Legalize the production and sale of heroin, and regulate its purity.  This will end fentanyl-laced heroin that brings instant death.  If any money is to be spent at all, spend it on clean needles and a sterile, safe environment for heroin addicts to safely shoot up.  Do 60,000 Americans really need to die this year?
