Kabul makes clear that our government does not care

Look at the way our gov’t has handled the Afghan exit. It’s like someone dumping their garbage in the middle of the street, or a drunk driver leaving the scene of an accident. They don’t care. This indifference is institutional. The State Dept., the Presidency, even Congress, does not care about the violence and chaos that has erupted. They don’t care about the thousands of Americans left in Afghanistan and who will now be used as hostages to negotiate the release of Taliban held at Guantanamo. Afghanistan served as a make-work project for weapons manufacturers, and for generals to receive medals. There was no noble goal behind it all.

I wonder what Trump would’ve done. As much as I hate to say it, we know what he would’ve done. The Tomahawks would’ve flown, the reapers would’ve rained death. The soldiers of fortune would have been given their gold and their license to kill. Trump would have ordered attacks at random on approaching Taliban. After a few of these attacks, the Taliban would have slowed to a crawl. It is not a pleasant thing to think about. But Trump would’ve provided the deterrent effect that is nowhere to be seen right now.
