17 years ago in Australia, you could have been hit with a $100,000 fine for exaggerating the benefits of medical masks

Well this is interesting: “Farce Mask”:

“Health authorities have warned that surgical masks may not be an effective protection against the virus.

“Those masks are only effective so long as they are dry,” said Professor Yvonne Cossart of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the University of Sydney.

“As soon as they become saturated with the moisture in your breath they stop doing their job and pass on the droplets.”

Professor Cossart said that could take as little as 15 or 20 minutes, after which the mask would need to be changed.”

Now, making snake oil claims about masks has become big business. And mask-wearing has become a fundamentalist religion.

Oklahoma gov. Stitt changes school quarantine rules to reverse massive failure rate among students

According to the new guidance changes, students who were exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID, but wore masks and distanced, will not be forced to quarantine for two weeks before returning to school. This will improve the situation dramatically for thousands of Oklahoma families, who don’t have the luxury of easily accommodating a sudden quarantine order.

This is a heroic move in the right direction, away from COVID hysteria, but as usual the familiar organizations are up in arms over it, primarily teacher’s organizations. The solution to this is to tell the teachers that if they don’t feel safe being around children, they should quit and be replaced with someone who is willing and able and not afraid. Punishing kids is not the answer.
