The hypochondriacs have now killed college football

The autumn football season on university campuses is effectively dead. I suppose that it’s no surprise, but still dismaying nonetheless. Primarily for the fact that this is more evidence that the hypochondriacs hold far too much sway over the opinions of decision-makers. From schools, to masks, to work, to church, to recreation, and everything else in between, these shrill, totalitarian thugs are effecting a cultural coup, a blitzkrieg takeover of all of social life. This is a very dangerous development, because it will be almost impossible to reverse short of complete revolution. And revolutions produce results almost diametrically opposed to the intentions of those who begin one.

The large segment of the American population that doesn’t consent to this authoritarian takeover must lift a finger and do SOMETHING to make their voice heard. I’ve heard the “but what could I do?” excuse before. If you’re breathing, you’ve got a voice and can add it to others.

In regard to college football, there is hope in the #LetUsPlay movement that has arisen recently, but their approach is fatally flawed. Many have claimed that “the virus can be controlled”. No, it can’t, and the hypochondriacs will crucify that argument in the public square for all to see. The correct approach is to just say that the virus poses no risk whatsoever to 21-year old athletes. It poses no real risk to anyone below the age of 55.

The correct approach is to call the hypochondriacs what they are: fear-peddling grifters eager to strangle our free and open society on the altar of their greed. These white-collar thugs see riches in the distance, riches taken from the pockets of a sufficiently subjugated population, and they need to keep the lie going until their reach their payday.
