Pediatric hospitalization rates: Flu 2017-18 vs. COVID

The product of my exploration of the CDC’s data deeps doesn’t disappoint. Compare Y-axes: the height of the flu season sees ped. flu hospitalizations reach almost 3.5 per 100k, while COVID never gets beyond 1.5 per 100k. Why was there no outcry for universal masking back then, when kids were in far more danger? Because everyone knew that masks had no effect on transmission of a respiratory virus that spread through aerosols. We live in the stupidest of times.
