Does the therapy industry prey on women?

“Therapy” is pushed onto women and young girls almost at the first stirrings of their emotions, almost as if anything other than a Stepford Wife serenity is looked on as an abnormaility that requires intervention. Ironic. I’ve known almost no men who’ve been to therapy. But almost every single girl I’ve ever known has either gone through therapy, or if not, has had it incessantly thrown at them throughout their adolescence. The ones who have seem to have no grounded way to interpret their emotions. Every negative emotion is viewed as an abnormality that must be corrected. This of course leads to the “There must be something wrong with me” attitude that too many young women have, which leads them to, unfortunately, medicate with the cornucopia of SSRI’s available to them.
