Have you noticed that “development” has become the perennial refrain of governors, mayors, city councils, county commissioners, up and down the line? Rapacious, breakneck development, the troglodytic religion of our uncouth, uncultured, unmoored, despiritualized age. America should be held in an esteem somewhat greater than a mere economic zone, and has this neo-barbarian religion of economic development helped anyone at all? Are our lives bettered by this blistering, pious devotion to “development”? The question we should ask is “development for whom?”. Not us, native-born Americans. We are surrounded by the acolytes of brainrot commercialism, who invite invasion from the world, imbecilic disciples of another form of anarcho-tyranny, where our nation is transformed, intentionally it seems, into something we should feel shame in passing on to our children. America as an ideal, a shining fortress on a hill, our own Ultima Thule, something we feel a modicum of pride in, does not enter into the minds of those who oversee its demise. Some understand this, like Bovino, and they get forced out. This is managed decline, coordinated despoliation, the deliberate obliteration of the most exquisite manifestation of human liberty in history. But the first step out of this Hell is understanding how we arrived here, who brought us here, and who prevents us from leaving.
