Projection: 32% unemployment, 47 million Americans laid off.
What will be the outcome of this collapse?
Also, how much worse will it become, given the reaction of people like James Bullard, who won’t accept reality?

Madness is taking hold of city councils.
Not to be out-done, Altus has implemented face masks AND a curfew.
Once this insanity subsides, if it ever does, something needs to be done about local governments’ ability to seize authoritarian powers almost overnight. Mayors across the nation have begun behaving like tinpot dictators, throwing people out of work, and acting as if they can make any demand of their community that they desire. A step in the right direction might be to toss out all the various “health officials” that are always at the ear of these mayors, whispering Doomsday scenarios, projected death tolls, and then stepping back and allowing the fear to palsy the official’s judgment. But these “health authorities” are doing the bidding of an official narrative handed down to them. We must begin electing leaders with the character to withstand this type of insidious infiltration of our communities.
The surgeon general has recently described this upcoming week as our “Pearl Harbor moment” in regards to the coronavirus infections in the United States. 9/11 has also been invoked to stoke the fear, and it’s a pathetic display.
Why isn’t the plague of annual medical error deaths not spoken of in this hyperbolic fashion? At an average of 250,000 avoidable error deaths each year, if we want to compare it to 9/11 it’s the equivalent of 83. But it’s meaningless to compare these tragedies. Over 600,000 Americans die of heart disease each year, why aren’t their deaths valorized in the same way? It’s because those deaths aren’t politically exploitable in the same way that deaths linked to COVID-19 are. The use of war rhetoric is designed to provoke a specific response from the public, who become much more docile and compliant than they would otherwise be. When the public believes “we’re at war!”, they will accept all manner of government intrusion into their lives. They’ll accept almost anything their government tells them.
If 2,000,000 Americans eventually die as a direct result of the authoritarian lock-downs, how many 911’s will that amount to? What memorial will be built to honor these entirely avoidable deaths? Who will count them, who will know their names? They’ll of course be lost to history, while elementary schools will screech endlessly about the “Pandemic” for centuries.
It’s pretty clear from the events of the past month, that fear itself, not some virus, will be the thing to kill us all in the end. With over half the globe in lock-down, the corporate media outlets daily broadcasting their overwrought apocalypse fantasies, the recrudescence of primal superstitious fear among the public of invisible, malevolent spirits moving through the air, more than a few us surely are experiencing whiplash as we are dragged back down into a demon-haunted world, from which total, authoritarian government is our only salvation. Or so we are told. What’s that oft-quoted line? This is why the aliens won’t talk to us.
From economist Toby Rogers’ editorial at Children’s Health Defense, if the U.S. economy hits 30% unemployment or greater, we will see up to 2 million “deaths of despair”. Remember, the initial prediction for coronavirus fatalities was 2.2 million. That prediction has now been downgraded multiple times. But the deaths due to lock-down are now unavoidable. The damage to the economy has been done, and is irreversible. And so, irony of ironies, to avoid 2.2 million theoretical COVID-19 deaths, our government locks down the economy, ensuring the deaths of 2 million Americans.
If the apocalypse is indeed upon us, it is entirely of our own making.
COVID-19: Four-fifths of cases are asymptomatic, China figures indicate:
“A total of 130 of 166 new infections (78%) identified in the 24 hours to the afternoon of Wednesday 1 April were asymptomatic, said China’s National Health Commission. And most of the 36 cases in which patients showed symptoms involved arrivals from overseas, down from 48 the previous day, the commission said.”

The astoundingly principled Kristi Noem:
“The calls to apply a one-size-fits-all approach to this problem in South Dakota is herd mentality, not leadership”
“My responsibility is to respect the rights of the people who elected me, and to manage our state operations in a way that reflects the realities of what we have here on the ground here. On the foundation of my principles, commonsense conservative values, and the principles we hold dear in America, the facts, the science, and the data will guide our decision-making here in South Dakota.”
The Ron Paul Institute’s Daniel McAdams has penned an entertaining essay about his experience at the local grocery store in the midst of the pandemic. Specifically, it’s his observation of how every employee has transformed into a low-level authoritarian functionary eager to bark orders, deliver threats, and mete out punishment. Read it here.
I’ve also noticed this phenomenon at the store I frequent. Getting compulsively eyeballed by every mask-and-glove wearing, aerosol spraying employee in order to ensure I obey the 6-feet rule while I shop isn’t pleasant. I have a theory of why authoritarianism has been the rule, rather than the exception throughout history, and why it has sprung up with enthusiastic support by the entire population: people love the sense of purpose that authority gives them. They feel important, like they matter in some deep, cosmic sense. People also love to obey authoritarian diktats, and love to shame and snitch on others who don’t do as they do. If you think about it, it’s amazing that even a modicum of liberty has ever existed at all.
Candace Owens brought this issue to national attention. Her Twitter feed has been invaluable for updates.
We should be very afraid of our rulers’ desire to keep the coronavirus panic inflamed. They see that people are realizing that COVID-19 is only a danger to the elderly and immunocompromised, and that the vast majority could safely return to their normal lives, so they are desperate for evidence of fatalities in children and healthy young adults. They can’t find any, so they lie.
